Day 6: Life Is A Temporary Assignment

"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.  We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.  We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body."   2 Corinthians 4:7-10

It today's society, advertising, peer pressure, the "norms" breath down our necks to 'have it all'.  So many times we forget that our life here is temporary and short compared to where we are going.  We spend so much wasted energy striving for the biggest, the best, the richest, the most known while forgetting God's fundamentals-truth & trust.  The reason many of us feel a longing even when we achieve the societal norms is because this is not our home.  We can never truely be satisfied here.  It will never be the right time to get married or have kids.  We will always yearn for something greater-something unseen.
Many of us have a hard time having faith in the unseen.  I know I am a woman of doubt, but I also realize the possibilities.  The possibility that my deepest wants and desires pull me towards the idea that this life is not it.  That I was made for something far greater.  That even at my happiest moments my heart can still feel heavy.  The possibility that my soul yearns for my home.  Whatever this pull is, I welcome its possibilities.  The great thing about the unseen is it has no expectations.  It is a matter of faith and hope; truth and trust; no matter what may happen to you or burdens come your way.  Do it ever so slightly in His name.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."  2 Corinthians 4:16-18
