The Gift of Friends
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Friendship is a very important factor in life. The mutuality of this relationship is part of what makes us, what teaches us, and what helps us to grow in many instances. Here, we learn what true friendship is-not based on them telling us what we want to hear or having the same mind frame as us; but truly standing for us when we have fallen. Being the one to tell us ,"You screwed up!" Usually friendships are what make us want to be a better person. It is also where we learn who to trust, love what is best for us, who likes you for you, and who just wants something from you. This is why it is so important and crucial to befriend God.

What a Friend we have in Jesus
What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
In His arms He'll take and shield you; Take it to the Lord in prayer.
During our friendship journey here are a few questions to help us along the way:- What are some of the friendships and fellowships you see at church, at school, at work, etc.?
- Can friendships be destructive?
- When are friendships truly important?
- How do you relate with Jesus as being your friend?
- In building your relationship with God, do you see him as your father/daddy?
