2022 Fitness Favs Gift Guide

Image
With Santa coming in a month - it might have you wondering what to get your favorite gym goer.  Here are some of my top gym gifts for 2022. 1.  Iron Bull Strength Weightlifting Belt You can end up spending hundreds on a weight belt.  Here is a very economical option that comes in four fun colors for women.  You can also get matching wrist straps .  I opted for mint on both.  In my experience - both are of great quality and an affordable price.  I will say if you are planning on really leaning up in the mid-section and are at the low end of a particular size on the size chart - go one size down.  My small is already at its smallest and likely will purchase a second in XS.   2.  Hydrarank Half Gallon Water Bottle These are my go to water bottles!  Because they are a half gallon, I never have to wonder how much water I have drank in a day.  I usually finish two of these a day!  The sleeve is easy to wash, comes in...

Hello! My name is Gym.

Image
It’s been over four years since I have taken the stage.  We welcomed our daughter 2019 and while I didn’t stop going to the gym; training was different.  Less intense, less organized!  I went when I could which was not as often as I like.  We have some basic equipment at home.  If you are like me, trying to train at home is distracting - I'd get sucked into laundry or noticing dirty baseboards and the list goes on! Fast forward to 2022. Our toddler is a little human and doing more independent tasks.  Leaving me more time to get in the gym how I like to.  With that comes more intentional training, more precise supplements, and some much deserved ‘me time’.  It feels good to be training more regularly and with intentions!  I think about joining the stage again.  Not sure when as I would have to start all over from a local show to get my bid into a national show.  The ever growing sport likely has changed in these last four year...

Don't Worry Be Happy

Image
I pray for faith that my future will be good if I live today well, and in peace.  I will remember that staying present is the best thing I can do for my future.  I will focus on what's happening now instead of what's going to happen tomorrow. Staying in the present moment can often be hard.  Many of us constantly worry about what is going to happen.  We create a web of worry that entangles us and keeps us from the amazing things going on right now.  There are lessons to learn now.  Our best needs us now.  Participation in the now is all we need to assure ourselves that what happens tomorrow is for the best. DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY The constant worry locked in our heads is a negative contribution to our future.  It holds us back from doing our very best now.  It also holds back our future from happening.  Have courage in letting things work themselves out and if we must think of our future; assure yourself that it will be good. ...

2012 Mile High Pre-judge

Image
What a beautiful morning for an NPC competition. Representing The Gym are Brian for men's physique, Caitlin in Figure, and Keisha in bikini. Brian looked great! The judges did not do call outs for novice or open in his class nor did they change anyone around.   Keisha got first call outs in bikini novice class a. Only three weeks of dieting and training. . .as always OnPoint make up and hair service added to the total package. Keisha said that was going to be the most fun part! Smaller open class so no call outs.  Caitlin also got no call outs for either classes. Congrats to the Miss Fits & Mayhem as they all took home trophies.  Brian took 3rd in his novice & 6th in open.  Caitlin took 2nd in her open & novice classes, and Keisha took home two first place trophies.  Great work from The Gym and their trainer, Chris Williamson.

Redefining Fitness Everywhere

Image
Sure, most of us join a gym to stay healthy, fit, perhaps just meet knew people, or take new classes.   Usually gyms are defined as only that- a gym! They are active full of weights and people; but this is not entirely true of The Gym off South Broadway in Denver , CO . The Gym is more than the weights you lift or the classes you take.   It is a family of motivational, inspiring, and dedicated men and women.   “Each day brings new opportunities to positively influence and change someone’s life,” says owner and trainer, Chris Williamson.   This statement sets the entire tone of The Gym.   Yes, they train hard, play harder, and in the end it is about whom they inspired along the way not the trophies on the shelves.   This gym is redefining fitness everywhere! You are sure to meet a lot of friendly faces when you come in for a free week of classes and weights.   There is no need to be intimidated or shy.   There are plenty of men and wome...

The Gym Celebrates

Image
Another exciting and fulfilling competition to really set 2012 season in motion.  The NPC Northern held at Boulder Theatre by Jeff Taylor proved to be challenging and one heck of a good time for The Gym Miss Fits and Mayhem. With the help of trainer, Chris Williamson, Natalie Little, Matt Horton, and Jenn P. Anderson are now nationally qualified as they all took first in their classes [pictures coming soon!].  While the rest of the team did not place, they were all so proud of their fellow teammates as well as themselves.  Take Kelly Adams and James Padilla who both lost over 50 lbs to take stage or Chris Hinkhouse who deals with Albanism or Nira who juggles three teenage boys as well as three businesses.  These competitors were met by their family from The Gym with cheers and constant motivation as well as added support from Mile High Max Muscle owners Ali & Billy Van Heusen. Congrats to all the competitors who took stage this weekend as it ...

Miss Fits & Mayhem Set The Stage

Image
NPC Colorado kicked off the season with a Novice & Masters Championship Sunday March 18th.  Taking stage was Michelle Lococo, Natalie Little, and Sean Looney representing The Gym Miss Fits & Mayhem.  The venue at Red & Jerry's Event Center was perfect for this show.  The set up was by far one of the best. Prejudging, Sean took stage first with four gentlemen in his class.  His posing was great and he kept a smile the whole time [even after almost walking off stage too soon-way to keep your composure!].  Natalie soon followed with six or seven women in her class.  Ashley Dennis, her posing coach, called out little corrections from the crowd.  You could hear fellow team mates cheering her on as the once semi-silent center got rowdy!  Unfortunately, Michelle did not have very much competition in her class being one of two in her figure class. Finals, Miss Fits and Mayhem all took first in their class.  Sean and Natalie were ...

Kick It Off For Us Miss Fit & Mayhem

Image
The Gym has sprung into action with its first competition just six days away.  After shooting with some of the other team members just two weeks ago, Natalie Little and Sean Looney are pumped to take stage.  Both team members will be hitting the stage at the NPC Denver Masters & Novice show held March 18th at 11am at River Point Event Center.  Natalie will be competing in Bikini and Sean in Physique. Though both of these individuals were already very active and loved going to The Gym, they have made major transformations within the last six months with the help of trainer, Chris Williamson, and the rest of the Miss Fits & Mayhem team.  We wish them well on and off stage. For more information about the show or to purchase tickets please visit JEFF TAYLOR .  To see other transformations or join The Gym, please visit THE GYM .  Special thank you to Brent Yoder of Capturesque Photography  and Brett Seeley .
