Let It All Go For Him

Image
The Arrows strike at the most vital places in our hearts, the things we care most about. The deepest questions we ever ask are directly related to our hearts' greatest needs and the answers life gives us shape our images of ourselves, of life, and of God. Who am I? The Romance whispers that we are someone special, that our heart is good because it is made for someone good; the Arrows tell us we are a dime a dozen, worthless, even dark and twisted, dirty. Where is life to be found? The Romance tells us life will flourish when we give it away in love and heroic sacrifice. The Arrows tell us that we must arrange for what little life there may be, manipulating our world and all the while watching our backs. "God is good," the Romance tells us. "You can release the wellbeing of your heart to him." The Arrows strike back, "Don't ever let life out of your control," and they seem to impale with such authority, unlike the gentle urges of the Romance, that...

Capturesque

When I went to Brent Yoder of Capturesque Photography  with the idea of shooting at The Gym in Denver , CO months ago, He could not pass up the opportunity.  It was not going to be the typical fitness shoot.  I had contacted a few clients of The Gym who had exotic cars.  Voila!  We had a Yellow Ferrari and Orange Lotus Elise as our accessories.  I have to admit, I was a little nervous about the weather not cooperating as most Coloradoans know the weather can go from 85 degrees to a blizzard in the blink of an eye. I arrived at The Gym with the weather worry put to rest as it was blue skies for miles with an occasional puff of clouds.  Awaiting the arrival of the Ferrari, He set-up the lighting with a mock car.  The contrast of the building, the sky, and the brightly colored cars were amazing contrasting colors. If that was not enough to feed the eager eye, we added custom clothing by Top Her Couture as well...

Hear Your Heart

Image
The mind takes in and processes information. But it remains, for the most part, indifferent. It is your mind that tells you it is now 2:00 A.M. and your daughter has not returned, for the car is not in the driveway. Your heart wrestles with whether or not this is cause for worry. The heart lives in the far more bloody and magnificent realities of living and dying and loving and hating. That's why those who live from their minds are detached from life. Things don't seem to touch them very much; they puzzle at the way others are so affected by life, and they conclude others are emotional and unstable. Meanwhile, those who live from the heart find those who live from the mind . . . unavailable. Yes, they are physically present. So is your computer. This is the sorrow of many marriages, and the number one disappointment of children who feel entirely missed or misunderstood by their parents. Yes, the heart is the source of our emotions. But we have equated the heart with emotion,...

God's Hearing Aide

So many times the signs we are waiting for to direct us aren’t as subtle as we think.   They just do not come to us like we think they should or imagined.   If we open our ears and eyes through God, we can then truly take the right path. A friend once told me how he wished he would hit a light pole, so that way he would know which damsel he should be with.   His deduction was the one that got their first would be the one he should be with.   Of course after knowing of his life more than this instance it was hard not to be bias in thinking.   It was clear who but why could he not see it. He could not see the metaphoric light posts continually placed in front him.   His car [himself] was going faster than light and his choices gave him a lead foot.   It may take a physical light post to slow him down.   The sad thing is it would only take a few moments of reflection to see she was always the first there.   One light post after another, she st...

Pride, Love, Commitment Are Waiting: Just Ask

Image
The world today is in the fast lane.   We are worried about how to get things done quicker so we can fit more stuff into our daily routine-more meetings, more than one job, more relationships, more money, and more toys.   We go about it trying to find the easy button in almost every situation, but what may seem like easy really drives us away from simplicity and becomes an oxymoron. Much of the world is in a whirlwind of chaos thinking more money, more toys, more than one woman will make you happier.   While having a few delicacies and indulging once in awhile can have a perk, it is temporary [empty even]; and then we are on to defeat the next big thing.   It is a false sense of comfort and enjoyment that comes from MORE .   Sometimes this MORE leads to more sin such as pretending to like or love someone for self-satisfaction, addictions [like drugs, sex, shopping, etc.], as well as lying and deception.   MORE pushes us to detach ourselves from God and ...

Play-Off Upset For The Ice

Image
The Colorado Ice come into the June 27th first play-off game against the Tri-City Fever with full steam.  At one point they were 3 touchdowns ahead, but somewhere after half-time they lost their steam.  Tri-City caught up with just being a touch down behind in the fourth quarter.  With about 5 minutes left they scored leaving the board a tie of 42 to 42.  Ice receive the ball with a shut out.  Four second left the Fever kick a field goal winning the game 45-42.  They will go on to play the Allen Wranglers after July 4th. On a positive note, the 2011 Colorado Icicles finished off their performance season with a bang.  They danced quarter to Britney Spears "Slave".  The crowd was awed by their sexy, seductive number especially when they whipped off their jackets to show a little skin.  Stay tuned to hear of appearances happening throughout the 2011 year. Congratulations Colorado Ice for an amazing season finishing Mountain West Division Cha...

The June 4th, 2011 Icicles Dance Camp was a hit.  Over 25 girls of all ages joined the 2011 Colorado Icicles at 8:30am to learn a dance routine and cheer. All the girls seemed rather enthusiastic and were having a blast for such an early weekend event.  They all worked very hard and left with their parents only to return later that night to perform during half-time. A whole mix of emotions entered the field from nervous, to giddy, to excited.  They awed the crowd with a beautiful performance to Katy Perry's Fireworks.  They followed by a cheer: GO-FIGHT-WIN; and unfortunately the cheers were not loud enough as the Ice lost 37-57 to the Wranglers.  This final game left the Colorado Ice at a 11-3 record still being the Division Champions.  This being quite a turn around from the last few years on the field. Congratulations Ice and good luck in the play-offs.
