Giving Back Through Amazon

Shopping, gifts, travel, wrapping, trees, tinsel, dinner preparation - the list goes on and on come the holidays.  We often are so 'wrapped' up in our to-dos that we often dismiss the bell ringers freezing outside collecting donations or forget to grab cash to put in the church basket.  Maybe you aren't like me in this sense, but are unsure how to give more and do it more frequently [not just during the holiday time].

Did you know you can have Amazon donate on your behalf every time you purchase an eligible product from them?

  1. log into smile.amazon.com using your regular Amazon credentials.
  2. It may prompt you with a pop-up box to pick your charity.
  3. If it does not prompt you, there will be a small. orange SUPPORTING banner under the search bar.
  4. If you Hover over it, it will pop-out a box.

      5. Select from thousands of charities.  As you can see, I support Dreambuilders Inc in Englewood, CO which funds go to help Uganda children with school supplies and to build and maintain school structures.  This 501.3c happens to have been founded by my husband and shopping on Amazon makes it easy for me to support and contribute to his goals.  If you do not have a charity, please keep Dreambuilders in mind!
      6.  While there is no app for the Smile side of Amazon, the browser version looks exactly like the app if logged in via mobile phone.  I like to put all the items I am going to purchase in my cart via the regular app and then open a safari browser for smile.amazon.com to continue to purchase.

That is it!  0.5% of your eligible purchase totals will go toward a charity of your choice.  Change where your support goes anytime.  Just remember to place your order on the smile.amazon.com website.  This easy way to donate allows you to give back anytime not just around the holidays and there is no extra cash out of your pocket [just what you were going to purchase anyways].

I'd love to hear how you give back or what your Smile Amazon charity is in the comments section!
