First Day of Summer: 5 Essentials To Make A Splash

Summer is officially here!  There are five essentials to make sure you are pool ready:

  1. Develop Healthy Habits:  We all want to look amazing when we are poolside as well as enjoy a few drinks and some BBQ.  The key is doing it all in moderation while maintaining some sort of active lifestyle.  Finding a trainer to show you the ropes is getting more difficult because there are a ton of gyms with increasing amounts of personal trainers.  Find a trainer that fits your needs and offers many services including nutritional counseling and recovery like The Gym.  The Gym offers many different trainers with well-rounded backgrounds like Cross Fit, dance, sports conditioning, bodybuilding, MMA, weigh loss to name a few.  They provide nutritional guidance and meal plans to keep you on track.  If that sounds like every other gym to you, how about walking five steps into Action Spine & Sports Medicine.  That's right!  Inside The Gym, Dr. Ben offers a wide variety of recovery & adjustment options.  There is no driving from one place to another-schedule training, nutrition and recovery under one roof.
  2. Protect Your Skin:  Yes, we all love that tan glow but with an alarming rise in skin cancer cases; be sure to wear a broad-spectrum 15 SPF or higher.  Don'e forget your face, ears, and even scalp[or opt for a hat].  If you can't bare your pasty skin, get a spray tan or use a self tanner.  Try Jua Salon for a personal spray tan with sugar based and paraben free product.  They are perfectionists when it comes to the sun kissed glow and the solution is great for every skin tone.  No streaking or looking like something out of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
  3. Stay Hydrated:  Our bodies are made up of about 60% water, and every system depends on water. Water is important for healthy skin, hair, and nails, as well as controlling body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure (wedmd.com).  General rule is eight 8 oz glasses a day and increase if you are working out heavy, pregnant, drinking alcohol, ill, and/or outside in the sun for long periods of time.  Take a water bottle with you even if you are going to a house BBQ.  You are more likely to stay hydrated if it is something you bring with you.
  4. Find Time To Relax:  There are going to be a ton of parties, get togethers, and BBQs not to mention Independence Day festivities.  It is important to find a balance between social butterfly and 'me' time.  Don't burn yourself out in the first month just to recluse for the rest of the summer.  Unwind by taking yourself to the spa, have a mani-pedi day, massage, go on a hike, plan a vacation, romantic night with significant other, etc.
  5. Suit Your Body Type:  There are so many options when it comes to apparel for the pool.  Many places like Target, Wal-mart, and other department stores carry a wide variety of styles, colors, textures, and designs; but they don't necessarily fit your body type & they are mass produced.  Why not spend a little extra on a one-of-a-kind suit made just for you by Top Her Couture.  Not only will it fit you just right, highlight your attributed, conceal problem areas [if any]; you can be assured that no one else will be wearing it!
Stay active, drink & eat summer's delicacies in moderation, protect your skin, drink plenty of water, relax & recover, and splurge on a couture suit as you make your way poolside!
