Mom Like Me III

Image
Finding time for yourself as a mother can sometimes be difficult.  Who are we kidding, almost impossible!  But for all mother's, there is hope.  Cortney, a proud mother of 2 and full-time RN Nurse, found the time within The Gym .  Her sister had already competed in a NPC Bikini Competition and she thought, "that is not for me."  With a little nudge and some convincing, she decided it would be a neat experience.  "I did it as a confidence thing" , Cortney confessed. Whether you are looking to whip that after baby body in shape, get healthy, or compete; now, is the time to take a step [perhaps more of a leap] in the right direction.  Set Goals. Be Dedicated.  See Results. Cortney placed 1st in the Bikini Division Class B

This mother of 2 beautiful little girls has her work cut out for her.  Not only is she a full-time mom, she owns and runs 3 businesses: Phoenix Rising Events & Marketing, Just Stylin' Baby, and Sweet Pea Cakes Etc.  In the mix of this organized chaos, Dawn set a goal for herself.  She wanted to be in the best shape of her life before 30.  Her fourteen week training with Chris Williamson at The Gym , Bethany Karlin , and the constant support of her teammates, the Missfits; she is heading in the right direction. She just competed in her first NPC competition in the bikini division.  Taking home multiple trophies in the novice and open class gave her a taste of what is to come.  She will be competing in the Colorado State on July 16th here in Denver, Colorado.  Then, she plans on competing in both Las Vegas, Nevada and Miami, Florida.  This headstrong, determined mother has transformed her goals, her body, her life! Set Goals. Be Dedica...

Braveheart

The most dangerous man on earth is the man who has reckoned with his own death. All men die; few men ever really live . Sure, you can create a safe life for yourself . . . and end your days in a rest home babbling on about some forgotten misfortune. I'd rather go down swinging. Besides, the less we are trying to "save ourselves," the more effective a warrior we will be. Listen to G. K. Chesterton on courage: Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die. "He that will lose his life, the same shall save it" is not a piece of mysticism for saints and heroes. It is a piece of everyday advice for sailors or mountaineers. It might be printed in an Alpine guide or a drill book. The paradox is the whole principle of courage; even of quite earthly or quite brutal courage. A man cut off by the sea may save his life if he will risk it on the precipice. He can only get away from death by continually ste...

A Willingness to Self-Reflect

Image
Betrayal is one of life's hardest blows. Mostly this is because when you trust, you tend to think that your trust in another defines all of their future actions. In other words, you assume that your faith in them gives you some measure of control over your own future. Looking back over an ended relationship is both difficult and inevitable. But instead of berating yourself, use this time to learn how to trust. For example, if he/she didn’t earn your trust, but you put your faith in him/her simply because you loved him/her, you were lying to yourself. The truth is that we don’t really trust other people, strange as that may seem. We trust our own internal clues enough to tell us whether or not to invest in another. You are not obligated to trust those that you love. And you are not obligated to trust someone just because other people do. Trust your own gut feelings. Trust feelings that tell you what you like and don’t like in an interaction. Trust your ability to see what is happe...
